Adopt Potaps

Male · Young · 3 years

Cat (spayed): 3 years (04.2023). ID - 428094400008482; . Mixed breed; country of origin - Latvia. Health status - no health problems observed. Additional information: short-haired, vaccinated, neutered. Potaps is a nearly three-year-old cat with a very special face - a beautiful pattern around the eyes looks like a kind of mask, but the pink nose gives him a slightly confused, touching expression. His large, green eyes have something very human - as if he is still trying to understand why there are so many changes in life. In his short life, Potaps has already experienced more than any cat should have - living in a shelter, finding a home, and then returning to the shelter again, this time with us. Therefore, he is currently cautious and a bit confused. Potaps does not rush to trust - he needs a little time to relax, to overcome his fears, to remember that a human hand can be gentle. When he overcomes his hesitation, a completely different Potaps appears. A sweet kitten who enjoys being loved, especially when given treats. In those moments, his gaze becomes calm, his eyelids gently close, and his muzzle tilts upward in gratitude. You can see how much he longs for his place in the world. We are looking for a home for Potap with a quiet lifestyle, without small children, without noise and constant commotion, where he will be allowed to settle in his own pace and where he won't have to fear the next change. Information added 16.03.2026.

Vecums (aptuvenais): 3 gadi (04.2023.). Frequently asked

Adopting Potaps, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Potaps?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Jēkabpils Dzīvnieku Patversme handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Potaps on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Potaps if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Jēkabpils Dzīvnieku Patversme will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Potaps already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most animals on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Potaps isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Jēkabpils Dzīvnieku Patversme early rather than rehoming privately; they know Potaps and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (LV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
