Yanis & Anton

European Shorthair · Male

Jannis (tamed) and Anton had actually already found their home. But then fate struck: Jannis developed FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis)—a disease that for a long time was considered incurable. With heavy hearts, both of them came back to us. FIP is a severe viral disease in cats caused by a mutation of the feline coronavirus. Many cats carry this virus without ever becoming ill. However, in rare cases, the virus mutates within the body—and that’s when FIP develops. For decades, this was a death sentence: The disease attacks organs or the nervous system, the animals grow weaker, and almost always die within a short period of time. Only in recent years have effective medications become available that can halt the progression of the disease. For the first time, cats now have a real chance of recovery. Jannis also received this treatment: For 84 days, he was provided with intensive medical care and support. Now, the two of them would like to find a new home together. At first, Jannis and Anton are very shy and need people who are patient and understanding. In their new home, there should be plenty of hiding places so that they can feel safe. Small children or other cats would overwhelm them, which is why we’re looking for a calm, stress-free environment. Stress can further compromise their health and must be avoided at all costs to keep Jannis healthy. Since the two are extremely attached to each other, they will only be rehomed together. For Jannis & Anton, we’d like to say: If you’re interested in Yanis & Anton, please send us an email along with a completed self-disclosure form.

About Yanis & Anton

What life with Yanis & Anton looks like

Yanis & Anton is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at Tierheim Böblingen in Böblingen.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Yanis & Anton, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Yanis & Anton?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Böblingen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Yanis & Anton on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Yanis & Anton if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Böblingen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Yanis & Anton already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Yanis & Anton isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Böblingen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Yanis & Anton and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
