Doberman · Male

Preston (D) EMERGENCY ID No.: 1050739 Breed: Dobermann Age: approx. 12/2020 Sex: male Shoulder height: approx. 67 cm Neutered/Spayed: No Country: Germany Location: Wesel ZIP: 46487 Inquiry form Preston is currently facing a great misfortune, as he is about to lose his beloved owner. Preston (* approx. 12/2020, approx. 67 cm) is a friendly male Dobermann dog in the prime of his life. He originally came from our Spanish partner shelter Triple A Marbella and was lucky enough to find a family in Germany at the end of 2021. But now his luck has run out—his owner has become seriously ill and can no longer care for him. Unfortunately, there is no family support network available to help with his care, so we and his owner must now take the difficult step of searching for a new home for Preston. Preston is a true treasure: he is very well socialized, gets along well with other dogs, walks perfectly on a leash, is house-trained, can be left alone without issues, and travels comfortably in the car. Due to his size, a home without small children would be ideal. He’s a real cuddlebug who prefers the sofa to a dog bed. In a familiar, low-wildlife environment, he also enjoys off-leash time and reliably comes when called. His owner describes him as easygoing and undemanding: above all, Preston wishes for a quiet home with people who can give him love and whom he can accompany through everyday life and on long, shared walks. Preston is microchipped, vaccinated, and holds an EU pet passport. At the time of travel arrangements, he tested negative for Mediterranean diseases. Vaccinations: Yes Mediterranean disease check: Yes Microchip: Yes Known illnesses: None Restricted breed dog: No Contact person: Silke Berger Email:

About Preston (D)

What life with Preston (D) looks like

Preston (D) is a large adult doberman dog waiting at Helfende Hände e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Preston (D), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Preston (D)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Helfende Hände e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Preston (D) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Preston (D) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Helfende Hände e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Preston (D) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Preston (D) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Helfende Hände e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Preston (D) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
