Prince

Mixed Breed Β· Male Β· Young Β· 3 years

Hi, I’m Prince, and I really am a little prince! πŸ‘‘ I’m the sweetest, most gentle boy, and although I’ve had a really rough start in life, I’m ready to find my very own people who will show me just how lovely life can be. I’m looking for an extremely kind, patient and nurturing home where I can take things at my own pace and learn that I’m safe and loved. I can be a little unsure when meeting new people, so I may need some time to make friends and build a bond with you. My friends at the centre think the best way to introduce me to my new family would be for them to come along for my home visits, which is why I need my new home to be within a reasonable distance of the centre. Once I realise you have tasty treats on offer and, even better, a comfy lap to curl up on, I’m sure we’ll become the very best of friends! I’m likely to become your little shadow, following you everywhere and soaking up all the love and attention I’ve missed out on. I’m not used to regular exercise and, although I can now walk nicely on lead, I’d much rather have a lovely garden where I can potter around, relax and spend time with my people. Once I’m settled and feeling confident, I’m sure I’ll enjoy some short, gentle strolls, but deep down I think I’m going to be a bit of a homebody at heart. Give me a garden, a comfy spot to snooze and someone to cuddle up with, and I’ll be very happy indeed! I form strong attachments to my people quite quickly, so I’d really love a home where I won’t be left alone for long periods. I’d ideally like to be the only dog in my new home for now, although I may be able to live alongside small animals who are safely kept in their own secure enclosure following careful introductions. I could potentially live with older children, but I think I’d be happiest in a peaceful, quiet home without too many people coming and going. I’m looking for people who understand that I may need a little time to settle and who will never rush me. In return, I promise that once I know I’m safe, I’ll give you all the love, loyalty and cuddles my little heart can offer. If you’re looking for a gentle little companion who just wants to feel safe, loved and part of a family, I might just be your Prince. πŸ’š

About Prince

What life with Prince looks like

Prince is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Jerry Green Dog Rescue in Lincoln.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Prince, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Prince?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Jerry Green Dog Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Prince on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Prince if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Jerry Green Dog Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Prince already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Prince isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Jerry Green Dog Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Prince and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
