PRIYA

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 1 year

Priya was rescued from a difficult situation by our colleague and ourselves. She has not had much opportunity to experience the world, which is why some things are still unfamiliar to her. Now it is time for Priya to discover the beautiful sides of life - a loving home, security, and people who show her how beautiful the world can be. Initially, Priya approaches new situations with caution. Quick movements sometimes unsettle her, causing her to initially be more reserved and submissive. At the same time, she is an exceptionally curious and active dog who explores her surroundings with great enthusiasm. It is noticeable that she has not had much opportunity to learn - and how much she is now making up for the missed experiences. Once Priya has gained trust, she shows her particularly loving side. She enjoys closeness, is affectionate, attentive, and wants to please her humans. She brings a lot of eagerness to learn and enjoys working with her caregivers. She is also making great progress in everyday life. While she is currently still excited during walks and occasionally pulls on the leash, this is not surprising given her history and will improve with some practice. She has already proven her ability to learn: she learned to climb stairs in a short time and now masters it quite naturally. Walking on a leash also works well - only her joy and curiosity are sometimes still greater than her patience. We are looking for active and empathetic people who enjoy discovering the world with her. With patience, understanding, and loving companionship, she will develop into a wonderful companion. She has everything she needs: curiosity, joie de vivre, a clever mind, and a big heart. Now all she needs is a home where she can finally arrive.

About PRIYA

What life with PRIYA looks like

PRIYA is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at 4 Happy Paws e.V. in Saal an der Donau.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting PRIYA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about PRIYA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. 4 Happy Paws e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw PRIYA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt PRIYA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — 4 Happy Paws e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is PRIYA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if PRIYA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with 4 Happy Paws e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know PRIYA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
