Professor Krallenstein

Male · Senior · 11 years

Professor Krallenstein spent several months in a certain area and was cared for there over an extended period by the person who found him. Since he appeared to have no home, he has now come to us. At first, he was very distant and avoided direct contact with us; during examinations, he occasionally reacted aggressively. Over time, however, he has turned into a true cuddlebug who can even be quite clingy. Anyone who gives him a chance will quickly discover just how much charm he has—not least because of his adorable crossed eyes, which make him utterly unmistakable. When it comes to cuddling, you won’t have to wait long for a reaction from Professor Krallenstein: his purr motor reliably starts up right away, and he’d most love to settle comfortably on your lap. He also happily gives affectionate head-butts, showing how at ease he feels among trusted company. On the other hand, Professor Krallenstein doesn’t need other cats to be happy—in fact, he tends to reject them quite clearly, which is why we see him best suited as a single-cat household in his new home. Small children aren’t a good match for him either. Unfortunately, typical for his age, Professor Krallenstein shows slightly elevated kidney values, so he should receive special renal diet food. His blood values should be checked again this summer. A heart ultrasound revealed that, fortunately, the detected heart murmur isn’t linked to any underlying cardiac issues.

DE·Show original

About Professor Krallenstein

What life with Professor Krallenstein looks like

Professor Krallenstein is a senior cat waiting at Tierheim Bonn in Bonn.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Professor Krallenstein, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Professor Krallenstein?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Bonn handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Professor Krallenstein on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Professor Krallenstein if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Bonn will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Professor Krallenstein already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Professor Krallenstein isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Bonn early rather than rehoming privately; they know Professor Krallenstein and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
