Adopt Promisse

Female · Young · 3 years

Date of Birth: 04/01/2023. Size: Medium (13 Kg). Health: Dewormed and vaccinated. Sometimes shows a bit of ataxia (repetitive movements). Leishmania and Ehrlichia negative. Spayed. In Cuencanimal since: 08/2024. Other information: Very timid. Character: After being rescued from a past marked by abuse, this podenquita now seeks an animal shelter and hope in our animal rescue association. Current situation: For Promisse, we are looking for a home with experience in fearful dogs and that has a friendly dog that can serve as a model and support for her. Ideally, this home would have a secure yard to avoid outdoor walks until she has strengthened her bond with the family. She needs a quiet environment, as she has only explored rural settings so far. During walks, she can still be a bit erratic due to the intensity of the smells and her occasional fears. Therefore, the company of a calm and secure dog on walks will be very helpful. For safety, she must use a harness and an anti-escape collar, along with two leashes, one of which should be attached to her waist. NOTE FOR adopters: Extreme caution with anti-escape measures during the adaptation period to the family.

About Promisse

What life with Promisse looks like

Promisse is a young adult dog waiting at CuencAnimal in Spain.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Promisse, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Promisse?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. CuencAnimal handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Promisse on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Promisse if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — CuencAnimal will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Promisse already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Promisse isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with CuencAnimal early rather than rehoming privately; they know Promisse and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
