PTOLEMEE

Labrador Retriever · Male · Adult · 7 years

Ptolémée is a dynamic dog deeply attached to humans and very affectionate! An explorer and attentive on walks, he is an enthusiastic companion who just wants to learn and share tender and intimate moments with his family. A charming little one, full of goodwill and life! Arrived from a shelter, Ptolémée found a way to be heard and express his need for attention through barking. Work is in progress to help him regulate his emotions and communicate differently, and he is making progress! He will need a patient and present family capable of continuing this learning with him. Still learning to settle down and sometimes uncomfortable with handling, he would ideally be placed without young children. He cannot live with cats, and cohabitation with other dogs will be on a case-by-case basis. Ptolémée has all the potential to become a wonderful companion… A cuddly little one waiting for you!

FR·Show original

About PTOLEMEE

What life with PTOLEMEE looks like

PTOLEMEE is a large adult labrador retriever dog waiting at Le Bois Pinson) in Bois Pinson.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Needs emotional regulation training, barks excessively, uncomfortable with handling

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting PTOLEMEE, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about PTOLEMEE?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Le Bois Pinson) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw PTOLEMEE on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt PTOLEMEE if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Le Bois Pinson) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is PTOLEMEE already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if PTOLEMEE isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Le Bois Pinson) early rather than rehoming privately; they know PTOLEMEE and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
