adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Puglia has found its own home! Her story: For those who love big dogs, Puglia is the perfect match and the lottery winner! 🙂 She is one of the dogs that are simply super easy to handle. Puglia is affectionate, gentle, very people-oriented, and just kind to everyone – she loves her people, whether big or small, she loves to snuggle and wants to please, but is never pushy. Despite her impressive size, she moves around the house and around people very carefully, is never rough, and likes to stay close to her people. With the other dogs and even the cats in her foster home, it's the same – Puglia is always cautious, polite, and avoids any stress, but she likes to play and snuggle with those who like her – a very social dog. In the house, she is a quiet and relaxed roommate, can climb stairs, is house-trained, and can stay alone at home with the other dogs for a while. The beautiful girl with the soulful eyes loves her walks and goes nicely on the leash, but of course, you must be able to hold the large dog if necessary. From her appearance and size, she could certainly have some herding dog in her background, but she shows no protective or watchful behavior, and is also friendly to strangers. For Puglia, we wish for a more rural home with a garden, plenty of contact with fellow animals, and someone who appreciates snuggling with their dog and spending time with them. How unpleasant and energy-draining the life of street dogs in Romania must be, Puglia had to sadly experience. Our helper Tina found her abandoned in an empty garden. But Puglia was not alone, she had given birth to her puppies just a short while ago under a wooden toilet. There, she tried to protect them so that no one could harm them. What a power mom Puglia is! The whole family was saved by us, and they were all able to leave. Puglia had a tumor sticker that was treated in Romania and is fully healed. At around 3 years old, Puglia is already out of the tumultuous phase of puberty and has a wonderful age to experience and learn more. She is approximately 65 cm tall and is a large female dog. Other dogs find her great, and she gets along well with them. Puglia is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and treated for fleas and has her EU pet passport in her bag. For an adoption fee of 500 Euros, she can move into her new home. Of course, a positive match with Puglia means getting a dream dog! Many thanks to Silvie S.! You gave Puglia her perfect name. Vielen Dank Silvie S.! Du hast Puglia ihren passenden Namen geschenkt. About Puglia

What life with Puglia looks like

Puglia is a extra-large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Puglia, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Puglia?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Puglia on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Puglia if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Puglia already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Puglia isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Puglia and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
