Pukkancs

Mixed Breed · Male

Two years waiting... How is this possible? Pukkancs, a neutered, small-sized male dog, has been living at the shelter for more than two years - yet during this time, not a single serious interested person has come forward to give him a chance. But he has so much to offer: very attached, people-oriented, playful, and happily returns all the attention. Born around 2022, he has already passed the wild phase of puppyhood, but is still active, lively, loves to play, learn, and requires daily care and contact. However, it is important to note that we do not recommend him for families with young children. Unfortunately, in the past, there were instances where he reacted improperly towards children, so we are looking for an owner who can lovingly, but firmly, guide him in an adult environment, in a calm setting. Pukkancs doesn't want anything else, just to finally belong to someone. If you feel that a loyal, attached companion would have a place in your life, come and meet him. It may be him that you've been looking for.

About Pukkancs

What life with Pukkancs looks like

Pukkancs is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Luca Kutyamenedék in Hungary.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pukkancs, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pukkancs?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Luca Kutyamenedék handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pukkancs on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pukkancs if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Luca Kutyamenedék will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pukkancs already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pukkancs isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Luca Kutyamenedék early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pukkancs and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
