adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Puky has found her home! Her story: The little Puky is desperately seeking a new, quiet home where she can finally find peace. She currently lives together with her canine companion Pebbles in a loving family, but due to a move to a smaller apartment, three young children, and few quiet spots, the life for the two female dogs has become increasingly stressful – especially for Puky, who reacts sensitively and reservedly to the new environment. In the past few weeks, Puky has lost significant weight and has shown health issues – the family veterinarian advised surrendering the dogs to prevent stress from leading to serious health problems. The family made this decision with great difficulty. The delicate female dog with the light, smooth coat and charming terrier look is about 30 cm tall and around 9–10 years old. Despite her age, she is still fit and enjoys going for walks – but at her own pace. New environments scare her at first, and she needs time to get used to new routes or situations. If given patience and not pressured, she develops into a loyal, gentle companion. Puky is initially cautious around strangers but warms up when she realizes that no harm is intended. She also has no problems with children, allowing herself to be petted after a while – but if it becomes too much, she retreats and simply wants her peace. A home without children or with calm, understanding children would be ideal. She gets along well with other dogs after a brief sniffing session, but she is not compatible with cats. Car rides are no problem for her, as long as the trip is under an hour – breaks with short walks are sensible for longer distances. Puky has not attended dog training classes, but she brings a lot of life experience. She no longer needs action or adventure – she simply needs people who give her security and stability. Puky will be neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas when rehomed. She comes with her EU pet passport of course. Who gives this delicate, little female dog a second chance and shows her that life can still be beautiful in her old age? Status: 21.04.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! Stand: 21.04.2025

About Puky

What life with Puky looks like

Puky is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Puky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Puky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Puky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Puky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Puky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Puky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Puky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
