adoption requirements adoption process Adopt now this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Pumba can stay! His story: With his short legs, Pumba wants to take big steps through life by your side. He embodies the motto of carefree living and optimism. His brown fur coat and the sweet, oversized floppy ears make him a real cuddle ball. Add to that his loyal gaze – who could resist? Since early August, the young male dog has been living in a loving foster family. There, he is very clingy, follows his foster parents with curious eyes, and enjoys lots of cuddles. A true love bug who loves to be near people. He bonds very quickly with his primary caregiver. Some basic commands already work quite well – no wonder, because the little Pumba is very alert and attentive and wants to please all the time. He also already runs well on a leash. At first, he meets strangers with some suspicion, but he now loves children very much. He gets along well with the two first dogs in the foster family, especially with the younger one, with whom he likes to play all day and actively invites him to play. The older female dog puts him in his place and raises him, so to speak, and he then calms down. He learns quickly, is adventurous, and is generally very open to other dogs, making him ideal as a second dog. Originally, Pumba came from Romania, Baia Mare. He was found on the street with his siblings Batty, Baghira, Bambi, and Yakari without their mother and was brought to safety. Pumba wishes for loving people who are eager to show him the world and see him as a full-fledged family member. Lots of time for shared adventures and cuddle sessions would be ideal. Pumba can be adopted at any time. He is microchipped, vaccinated, and has a valid EU pet passport. Has the little Pumba already wrapped you around his little paw? He looks forward to his people. We thank Alexandra S. for giving Pumba his beautiful name and thus his own identity. Status: 10.10.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Pumba darf bleiben! Stand: 10.10.2025

About Pumba

What life with Pumba looks like

Pumba is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pumba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pumba?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pumba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pumba if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pumba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pumba isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pumba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
