Adopt Pumpkin

Mixed Breed · Female

The cutest pumpkins come from Bosnia & Herzegovina and live in 59075 Hamm in Westphalia. Our Pumpkin had immense luck and was immediately embraced by her humans. We wish the lovely female dog only the best, courage, and a wonderful life! Pumpkin is an agile young female dog who, after the Easter weekend, now lives in a foster home in Krefeld. After initially seeking shelter behind every corner when near people, she now ventures out more often. This positive development is also thanks to the friendly Carli, who makes Pumpkin more comfortable with her surroundings. Pumpkin now finds her way to the garden independently and even does her business outside. A cuddly dog is unlikely for Pumpkin, but once she has made a connection with a person, she can overcome her shyness and make contact. However, overbearing behavior is completely out of place with Pumpkin. Even on well-intentioned touches, such as comforting or lifting her, it should be avoided, as she is not hesitant to present her 42 arguments in the discussion. For Pumpkin, we are looking for people with empathy, goodwill, and a sense for dogs who do not choose two-legged beings as their preferred life partners. A garden at home would be nice so that Pumpkin can approach her familiar surroundings without pressure. She gets along well with her fellow animals but does not want to be pushed. She knows how to set boundaries here as well. A friend like Carli, with whom she can run around the bushes, would greatly ease her arrival. Those who can look beyond Pumpkin's facade of uncertainty discover a delicate, finely communicative young female dog who still has much to learn and discover – with the right support but without any pressure. We are sure that once the ice is broken, it will be the beginning of a lifelong friendship that will grow over the years. A respectful approach (keyword: cooperation) and the acceptance of individual boundaries are the foundation on which Pumpkin will eventually open her heart to you.

About Pumpkin

What life with Pumpkin looks like

Pumpkin is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Streunerglück e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Pumpkin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Pumpkin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Streunerglück e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Pumpkin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Pumpkin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Streunerglück e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Pumpkin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Pumpkin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Streunerglück e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Pumpkin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
