Queenie

Mixed Breed · Female · Senior · 15 years

Queenie is a Dartmoor mare born in 2011. She was owned by a very elderly man who adored her, so much, he even moved into a caravan in her field so he could care for her. He could no longer manage her so asked if we would take her. She is a strong character. Non ridden.

About Queenie

What life with Queenie looks like

Queenie is a senior mixed breed horse waiting at Blue Acre Horse Rescue in United Kingdom.

Adopting a horse is a long-term commitment that almost always requires either land or a boarding stable. The shelter will discuss the horse's training level, vet history, and what kind of work or companionship they're suited for. Expect ongoing costs: feed, farrier, vet, and stabling.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

Paperwork, vet checks and transport rules differ by species and by country. Ask the shelter what is included and what you will need to arrange before you commit.

Frequently asked

Adopting Queenie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Queenie?: Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Blue Acre Horse Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Queenie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Queenie if I live in another country?: Sometimes. Whether a horse can move between countries depends on the species and the rules in both countries, and some species need permits or have restrictions. Ask Blue Acre Horse Rescue what paperwork and transport they require, and check the import rules of your country before you commit.
Is Queenie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?: What a horse comes with (vet checks, vaccinations, identification, paperwork) varies by shelter and species. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask Blue Acre Horse Rescue directly what is included and what Queenie still needs.
What happens if Queenie isn't the right fit?: Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Blue Acre Horse Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Queenie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?: TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
