Adopt Radieschen (reserviert)

Female · Senior · 11 years

Radieschen was found in 2025 with a large tumor on her head. We had her immediately operated on, and fortunately, everything could be removed, and she felt much better afterward. We then rehomed her, but now she has been returned to the animal shelter because her fearful behavior overwhelmed her new family. Back at the animal shelter, Radieschen has unfortunately experienced a lot of stress. In the cattery, she constantly retreats to herself, and even other animals don't seem to hold much interest for her. Radieschen's friendship must be earned. She is not a cat that approaches people but rather one that retreats, who knows what the poor animal has endured. Only one thing is certain: she needs time to regain trust. We are looking for cat-experienced people who can give Radieschen all the time in the world to settle in. Maybe she will not be a snuggly cat - but that is not necessary. We would like to place her as a single cat in a quiet home. Radieschen is not the right cat for children - but you probably already thought that while reading this text. Please write to us if you would like to meet Radieschen.

About Radieschen (reserviert)

What life with Radieschen (reserviert) looks like

Radieschen (reserviert) is a large senior cat waiting at Tierheim Bergheim in Bergheim.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Radieschen (reserviert), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Radieschen (reserviert)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Bergheim handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Radieschen (reserviert) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Radieschen (reserviert) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Bergheim will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Radieschen (reserviert) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Radieschen (reserviert) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Bergheim early rather than rehoming privately; they know Radieschen (reserviert) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
