Rajah

European Shorthair · Unknown

Rajah is a beautiful, two-year-old, tiger-striped cat with a story to tell. Behind my pretty coat and two years of life, I am a survivor. My name is Rajah, and although I look like a tiny, independent tiger, I am a noble soul looking for a real chance. Unfortunately, the people who had me in the past didn't know how to treat me right. Because of that, fear sometimes follows me and I am quite suspicious at first. Loud noises or sudden movements still scare me, so my defense mechanism is to observe from a distance until I feel safe. I'm not looking for just any house; I'm looking for a quiet home and a patient family that understands that love isn't demanded, it's earned. If you're willing to give me my space, not to force me, and to show me gently that humans can also be good, I promise you will discover the most loyal cat in the world. Do you want to be the one to teach me what real love is?

ES·Show original

About Rajah

What life with Rajah looks like

Rajah is a adult european shorthair cat waiting at Centro de Proteccion Animal de Madrid in Madrid.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rajah, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rajah?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Centro de Proteccion Animal de Madrid handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rajah on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rajah if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Centro de Proteccion Animal de Madrid will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rajah already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rajah isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Centro de Proteccion Animal de Madrid early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rajah and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
