I am Ralf Rooibos, a Smooth-sided Turtle. Unfortunately, I ended up at the animal shelter due to the separation from my humans. I am looking for a new home, either alone or with my friend Alois Vera. I am male, weigh around 345 g, and am approximately 13 cm in size. My species has high requirements for husbandry and climate, so my animal caretakers here provide detailed advice – or perhaps you already have experience with my species. I would like a home with people who have knowledge about the husbandry of Smooth-sided Turtles or who are willing to learn. Outdoor housing is only possible in summer and requires a heated shelter or greenhouse. Important are summer temperatures of 26–31 °C and winter temperatures of 23–26 °C, with a clear temperature gradient. A year-round heat spot with around 45 °C is necessary. The humidity should be around 80% in summer and 60–70% in winter. For terrarium housing, a minimum size of 180 × 80 × 80 cm per turtle is assumed. Ich bin Ralf Rooibos eine Glattrand-Gelenkschildkröte. Ins Tierheim kam ich leider wegen der Trennung meiner Menschen. Ich suche allein oder mit meiner Freundin Alois Vera ein neues Zuhause. Das bin ich: Ich bin männlich, wiege ca. 345 g und bin etwa 13 cm groß. Meine Art stellt hohe Anforderungen an Haltung und Klima, deshalb beraten meine Tierpfleger:innen hier ausführlich – oder vielleicht hast du ja sogar schon Erfahrungen mit meiner Art. Ich wünsche mir ein Zuhause bei Menschen mit Kenntnissen in der Haltung von Glattrand-Gelenkschildkröten oder entsprechender Lernbereitschaft. Freilandhaltung ist ausschließlich im Sommer möglich und nur mit beheiztem Schutz- oder Gewächshaus. Wichtig sind Lufttemperaturen von 26–31 °C im Sommerhalbjahr sowie 23–26 °C im Winterhalbjahr, jeweils mit einem deutlichen Wärmegefälle. Ein ganzjähriger Hitzespot mit ca. 45 °C ist notwendig. Die Luftfeuchtigkeit sollte im Sommer bei etwa 80 %, im Winter bei 60–70 % liegen. Bei Terrarienhaltung wird eine Mindestgröße von 180 × 80 × 80 cm pro Tier vorausgesetzt.
