Ramar

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

Ramar is an exceptionally calm, balanced, and charming dog born in 2018, whose gentle disposition can melt any heart. Ramar is a mature four-legged creature weighing 13 kg, characterized by a very low energy level and an exceptionally delicate, people-friendly nature. Though at first glance, he may appear to have a classic, common look, his inner world hides a true treasure, making him a dog with a wonderful and cheerful character. In shelter conditions, he is revealed as an extremely quiet, clean, and problem-free animal – he does not damage any items in the kennel or on the play area, and he also patiently and calmly endures all necessary hygiene and veterinary procedures. Ramar loves the closeness of humans, demanding to be petted and is a typical couch potato who prioritizes relaxation, soft bedding, and a sense of security by the caregiver over active training. Outdoors, he very much enjoys spending time on the play area, where he freely and conflict-free communicates with other dogs, displaying great social skills and a friendly attitude towards his fellow pack members. The future caregiver should keep in mind that Ramar is a bit of a picky eater at the bowl, which will require the patience of finding the right diet, and he also cannot currently walk on a leash, so the learning of this skill at a calm pace will be key, preferably in the yard or a secured area. This wonderful, balanced dog will find his ideal home in a quiet household where surrounded by love, he will become the most loyal friend of the entire family. Ramar is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped.

About Ramar

What life with Ramar looks like

Ramar is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ramar, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ramar?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ramar on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ramar if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ramar already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ramar isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Janik (Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ramar and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
