Rambo

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

I am Rambo, a male German Shepherd dog. I was dropped off at the animal shelter. Why? As the affected party, of course, I would be interested, but as in many cases, there is nothing definitive. But let’s move on: we should leave the past behind us and focus only on my future. I would be happy to find a German Shepherd-experienced companion. Such a companion would at least, in general, know what to expect. Of course, every dog brings its “quirks” with it, depending on its previous upbringing and care. But a German Shepherd-experienced companion would know where corrections are needed and where there is still a “catch-up” needed. I generally get along well with my fellow animals, depending on my counterpart: at the shelter, I am together with Rosi, a German Shepherd female, and we get along great. I have no problems with being alone as long as it stays within limits. And I have no objection to car rides. My new home should have enough space for me, preferably a house with a garden, as before. I am rather temperamental: sometimes I need a little restraint. But with the right companion, that shouldn’t cause any problems. And anything else? If my interest has piqued you, meet me on a walk around the shelter. You can form your own impression of how I react in certain situations. Much better than reading here and there about me. I would be happy if you would take me on a walk. Appointments must still be arranged by phone. But that shouldn’t be a problem. Rambo German Shepherd Born: December 28, 2019 Gender: male neutered:. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

DE·Show original

Ich bin Rambo, ein Deutscher Schäferhund Rüde. Ich wurde in das Tierheim abgegeben. Warum?

About Rambo

What life with Rambo looks like

Rambo is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Roth in Roth.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rambo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rambo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Roth handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rambo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rambo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Roth will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rambo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rambo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Roth early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rambo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
