Adopt Rambó

Mixed Breed · Unknown

February 9, 2022: Unfortunately, Rambó's rehoming had a very short lifespan. The owner finally decided to return Rambot because of moving. But the good news is that the owner still calls Rambot a perfect cat, so we don't doubt that the right time for him will come soon! Update: There is a fracture in the right pool paddle, which does not require surgery, it will heal together. However, two vertebrae are injured that are responsible for urinary control and defecation. We have to catheterize him, which is not an easy procedure, but we are trying and getting better. There is more panic because of the defecation, but he gets wet food mixed with mineral oil to make it softer. We massage his belly, which isn't hard, because as soon as he sees us, he immediately throws himself away, purrs and loves belly rubs. He will be on a week-long painkiller and antibiotic treatment. We are hopeful, he is a very strong boy. A man called us on the phone, saying that he has been hearing loud cat cries from under a car since morning, possibly the cat is injured. He spent time and energy to find it, put it in a box and brought it to the shelter. Every part of Rambó was trembling and howling from the pain and fear. That loud cat cry wasn't the usual meowing, but a scream, the kind of sound that reaches the human brain. We immediately warmed him up and gave him painkillers. Since he didn't use his back part, our first task was to take him to the veterinarian on Monday. Rambó came from the corner of Árvíz street and Damjanich street.

About Rambó

What life with Rambó looks like

Rambó is a medium-sized adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tappancs Állatvédő Alapítvány Szeged in Hungary.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rambó, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rambó?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tappancs Állatvédő Alapítvány Szeged handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rambó on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rambó if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tappancs Állatvédő Alapítvány Szeged will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rambó already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rambó isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tappancs Állatvédő Alapítvány Szeged early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rambó and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
