Ramzes

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 6 years

Ramzes arrived at our shelter after being found in Kórnik. He came in a state that spoke louder than a thousand words—neglected, matted, calling out for help, and clearly undernourished. It was evident that he had been fending for himself for a long time and had no one to attend to his basic needs. The early days were tough. This boy had spent half a year battling his own fear, mistrust, and experiences of which we would rather not know. He was withdrawn, and sometimes reacted aggressively, as that was the only strategy he knew. Today, we see a completely different dog. Ramzes needed time to understand that humans can not only demand but also support. Now, he walks his walks like a true king, and even allows trusted individuals to brush his majestic fur. And let it be clear—trusted individuals. Ramzes does not hand out keys to his heart to just anyone he meets. It can be inferred that he once guarded a property or a business. He has the nature of a guardian—alert, intelligent, and confident. And that’s why he’s looking for a person who won’t be intimidated by his character but will appreciate and lead him. Ramzes is not a dog for everyone. But for a responsible person who knows about shepherds and understands that trust is built slowly—Ramzes will be a loyal, devoted, and incredibly wise companion. If you have experience with dogs of strong personalities and are looking for a partner to walk through life by your side—Ramzes is waiting.

PL·Show original

I niech to będzie jasne - zaufanym. Jeśli masz doświadczenie z psami o silnej osobowości i szukasz partnera, z którym można iść przez życie ramię w łapę - Ramzes czeka.

About Ramzes

What life with Ramzes looks like

Ramzes is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Schronisko Skałowo in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ramzes, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ramzes?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Schronisko Skałowo handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ramzes on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ramzes if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Schronisko Skałowo will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ramzes already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ramzes isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Schronisko Skałowo early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ramzes and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
