Rango

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Rango is a rescued dog learning to live a life without a chain. Rango is an instantly recognizable, one-of-a-kind mixed-breed dog. He is short, long, and quite heavy - a real big guy who stands out from the crowd. Rango's start in life was far from happy. One day, he appeared on the yard of complete strangers. We don't know where he came from, who he belonged to, or how long he had been wandering. He had no microchip, no one was looking for him, and he had a chain around his neck instead of safety. Rango brought a lot of ticks in his fur and uncertainty towards humans in his heart. When he moves quickly, he cowers, and it's clear that a human hand still evokes fear in him. Rango needs to learn that a hand doesn't have to hurt. That a human doesn't have to mean fear. And that life can look completely different from the day of his rescue. And that's what makes Rango so wonderful. When he starts to trust a human, he can form a beautiful bond with them. He can become very attached to his human and then follow them everywhere. He wants to know where his human is, what they're doing, and where they're going. The once-cautious dog who cowered at the sight of a human hand can become a devoted partner who just wants to be with his human. Rango would be happiest in a house with a garden, where he could safely enjoy the outdoors, but at the same time have his own place inside the house - his bed, warmth, comfort, and the closeness of his family. Because Rango is not a dog that belongs in a kennel! After what Rango has been through, he deserves to know that home means stable safety. We are looking for a family for our Rango who will understand his past and won't expect trust right away. A family with patience, peace, and an open heart. Rango may need a bit more time. But when he starts to trust you, he will give his whole dog heart. And maybe just then you will find out that the short, long, and heavy dog who once didn't know where he belonged will be your shadow, a loyal partner, and a dog who will want to follow you everywhere. Rango can also be supported financially for veterinary procedures and food. SNP 21, 811 01 Bratislava FIO CZ: 2201868518/2010 SWIFT/.s., V Celnici 1028/10, 117 21 Praha 1

SK·Show original

V kožúšku si so sebou Rango priniesol množstvo kliešťov a v sebe neistotu voči človeku. Rodinku s trpezlivosťou, pokojom a otvoreným srdcom. SNP 21, 811 01 Bratislava FIO CZ: 2201868518/2010 SWIFT/.s., V Celnici 1028/10, 117 21 Praha 1

About Rango

What life with Rango looks like

Rango is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Malá farma in Slovakia.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇸🇰Adopting from Slovakia

Slovak rescue groups coordinate cross-border transport with European partners. Animals are chipped and vaccinated; sterilization is often included for adults and arranged post-adoption for puppies/kittens.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rango, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rango?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Malá farma handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rango on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rango if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Malá farma will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rango already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rango isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Malá farma early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rango and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (SK). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
