Adopt Rantanplan

Male · Adult · 7 years

Hello, world, My name is Rantanplan, my animal shelter caretakers also affectionately call me "Blablabla" because I'm such a chatterbox. As part of an official inspection, I ended up at the animal shelter and now I'm searching for a new home. I'm a very friendly and playful male dog with many talents. For example, I can jump super well and with this leash thingy, I always make macramé, because creative activities are very important. Setting that aside! I'm a very active and easily motivated guy, I love treats and even more so, balls and stuffed animals. I love fetching, although I'm currently really into it. I would definitely have a lot of fun with dummy training! Unfortunately, my upbringing was a bit neglected, and so things like walking nicely on a leash, going for car rides, and being alone are things I need to practice. With other dogs, I'm generally friendly. Unfortunately, I was very neglected in terms of health, I was emaciated to the bones, had little muscle, and due to malnutrition, I have some bald spots. I've already gained a little weight, but I still need to be well-fed. I'm looking for a home with active and loving people who have a lot of time for me and are also patient—I will definitely need time to learn what's important to you, but I promise I'll try my very best! With my friends, we go through thick and thin! If you'd like to meet me, please get in touch!.

Dein Rantanplan

About Rantanplan

What life with Rantanplan looks like

Rantanplan is a large adult dog waiting at Tierschutzverein St. Pölten in St. Pölten.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Severely neglected health condition - was emaciated, lacks muscle mass, has bald patches from malnutrition. Needs continued rehabilitation and weight gain.

🇦🇹Adopting from Austria

Austrian shelters follow the federal Tierschutzgesetz framework: adopters sign a Schutzvertrag (protection contract) committing to the animal's welfare. Spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinations are included; fees typically range €150–€350.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rantanplan, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rantanplan?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein St. Pölten handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rantanplan on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rantanplan if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein St. Pölten will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rantanplan already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rantanplan isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein St. Pölten early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rantanplan and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
