Rattler

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 3 months

Meet Kopparberg, Aspall, Scrumpy, Weston, Rattler and Mout! 🍎🐾 We’re six 15-week-old Akita x Staffie puppies who are ready to find our forever homes, and we’re certainly not short of personality! We’re currently full of beans, fun-loving and always on the go. We adore our toys, love having things to explore and are really enjoying discovering more of the big, wide world around us. Unfortunately, we haven’t had the best start to life, which means we have some catching up to do. We’re going to need patient, committed families who understand that helping us grow into happy, confident adults will take time, consistency and plenty of guidance. We’re larger, boisterous puppies who are still learning about the world, so we’ll need lots of gentle encouragement, positive experiences and a helping hand to understand what’s expected of us. Our Akita and Staffie heritage means we have the potential to grow into strong, powerful dogs, and we’ll need families who appreciate the characteristics of both breeds. Previous puppy experience is important, and experience with Akitas would be a real bonus. If you haven’t owned these breeds before, you’ll need to do plenty of research and be prepared for the commitment involved in raising a large, strong-willed and sometimes rather bolshy youngster! We’re very much at the beginning of our journeys, and the time and effort invested in us now will be so important as we mature. Puppy classes and continued socialisation will be a really important part of our development. We’ll need adopters who are prepared to enrol us in suitable puppy classes and continue our education well beyond those first few sessions. This isn’t just about teaching us to sit or walk nicely on a lead; it’s about helping us learn how to behave around other dogs, people, different environments and everyday experiences. Because we haven’t had the best start, we’ll need these introductions to be carefully managed, positive and at a pace we can cope with. We’re big personalities in growing bodies, so teaching us good manners and helping us develop into well-adjusted adults is going to be a big part of life with us! We could potentially live with other dogs, animals and even children, provided introductions and compatibility are carefully assessed. Any resident dogs will need to be comfortable around large, boisterous puppies, and children will need to be dog-savvy and confident around strong, energetic breeds. We’ll need supervision, clear boundaries and families who understand that our size and enthusiasm can sometimes be a little overwhelming! If you’re looking for a puppy to simply slot straight into family life with very little guidance, we probably won’t be the right match. But if you’re experienced, prepared to put in the work and excited about helping a youngster learn and flourish, one of us could be just the companion you’re looking for. We have so much potential, plenty of love to give and a whole world left to discover. With the right guidance, patience and commitment, we’re looking forward to finding families who will help us make the very best of our fresh start. Could you be the one to give Kopparberg, Aspall, Scrumpy, Weston, Rattler or Mout the future they deserve?

About Rattler

What life with Rattler looks like

Rattler is a large puppy mixed breed dog waiting at Jerry Green Dog Rescue in Lincoln.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rattler, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rattler?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Jerry Green Dog Rescue handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rattler on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rattler if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Jerry Green Dog Rescue will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Rattler already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rattler isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Jerry Green Dog Rescue early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rattler and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
