Recha

Mixed Breed · Female

Recha is a two-year-old (as of 02/2022), adorable Bodeguero-Mix girl with beautiful round eyes and fantastic ears. No one can resist the charm of the cute princess - or, rather, her own family could apparently do so very well. On the day of her birthday in December, Recha was given a "termination without notice" by her owners. Even a grace period that might have enabled an animal welfare association to find a new home for the reserved terrier mix was not granted. The people who have had Recha since she was just a few weeks old wanted to drop off their pet at the Perrera. Just before the end of the hunting season in Spain, where kennels are overflowing, this would have been equivalent to a death sentence for a shy girl like Recha. Fortunately, our friends from the animal shelter Gala in Seville found out about the fate of the delicate female dog, and the committed volunteers even found an experienced foster home that could spare Recha the experience of the animal shelter. At first, they were a bit surprised how quiet and nervous the pretty dog lady was. Our Bodegueros are usually born entertainers and rarely have reservations towards people. But Recha is indeed a real princess, and she needs a little time to get used to things. After just a few days, Recha was happily walking with her new friends through the streets, she has started playing, she comes onto the couch on time for the evening TV session and cuddles devotedly. Nevertheless, Recha is rather less curious for a terrier and she always needs the feeling of not having to take responsibility. Therefore, we would be happy if we could find a quiet home for our lovely tricolor sweetheart with experienced people (and preferably confident dogs). Young children are often too surprising for Recha, and she doesn't like loud noises - she's a real lady. However, it would certainly not be a problem to give our thoroughly friendly young girl a home, provided there are enough places to retreat and older children. It seems as though Recha didn't gain many environmental experiences in her old home, and perhaps she will still discover her breed typical curiosity and the will to conquer the world - she can now barely hide her playfulness. Recha is still very young and can (and obviously wants to) learn a lot. For this, she wants to become part of a functioning team, with people by her side who will guide her with patience and love and help her understand all the new things. A cozy dog bed, a colorful ball and the knowledge that she will never be left behind again - this is what Recha wishes from her new owners. Humble Princess Recha wants to conquer her new area of influence... such a loving snuggle bunny shouldn't have to wait long, should it?

DE·Show original

About Recha

What life with Recha looks like

Recha is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Recha, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Recha?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Recha on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Recha if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Recha already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Recha isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Recha and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
