Remy

Male · Young · 1 year

Meet Remy! Handsome, hilarious and completely convinced he’s still a tiny puppy… meet Remy, our gorgeous 1-year-5-month-old Lurcher! Remy is a big, strong boy with a huge personality, and we think he may even have a little more growing to do! He’s loving, affectionate and thinks the whole world is absolutely AMAZING. Every walk, every new smell, every person and every exciting thing is worthy of his full attention! Remy can get very excited and sometimes forgets just how big he is — he’s still very much a puppy at heart and is learning that not everyone appreciates being enthusiastically launched at by a very large, very happy Lurcher! Because of this, Remy is looking for a patient and committed owner who understands that he needs time, training and consistency to help him become the wonderful adult dog we know he can be. He’ll need an active home that can give him plenty of exercise, enrichment and, just as importantly, plenty of guidance. We would consider a family with dog-savvy older children who are comfortable around a big, boisterous youngster. For now, though, we think Remy would be best suited as the only dog in the home while he continues to learn his manners and how to navigate the world. And finally… Remy’s photos really do not do this boy justice! He is even more handsome in person and has a presence that is impossible to capture in a picture. Remy is a big bundle of love, energy and youthful mischief, and with the right person by his side, we know he’s going to be an absolute superstar.

About Remy

What life with Remy looks like

Remy is a very small young adult dog waiting at Durham Dogs & Cats Home in United Kingdom.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Remy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Remy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Durham Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Remy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Remy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Durham Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Remy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Remy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Durham Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Remy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
