adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal!Renato has found a home! His story: Busag, Romania. Our special case Renato had a truly difficult start in life. He was found in the summer on a parking lot on a mountain road, 50 km from the Ukrainian border. Dorel learned about this from a truck driver who travels the route twice a week. Dorel then went to check on him. Renato was already very weak but full of life. He responded immediately to being called and was given food right away. Once in safety, he could be examined more closely. He was covered in ticks and was nothing but skin and bones. Additionally, it seemed he had been hit by a car and had problems with his pelvis. X-rays are still pending. Five days later, he then fell ill with Babesiosis and stopped eating. The little fighter received infusions for 10 days and is now doing well again. He could also finally receive his first vaccination. We can hardly imagine the suffering he endured and the pain he would have had to endure if Dorel had not taken such loving care of him. That's why the handsome Renato with the different eye colors deserves a home so much that he doesn't have to grow up and get old in the shelter. Renato is very friendly and loving. He also gets along well with dogs. At around 45-50cm, he counts as a medium-sized dog, but will probably still grow a bit more. Renato is on the lookout for his own family that will support him in his recovery process and give him some time to settle in. Despite his limitations, Renato is also going through puberty. And even if one has pity on the little guy, one must not forget to show him his limits and raise him with love but consistency. When the synapses eventually connect properly again, Renato will definitely make a great companion. Due to his limitations, however, he should be better suited for a family where the children are already a bit older. He will certainly need further medical care and possibly physiotherapy.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen!Renato hat sein Zuhause gefunden! Seine Geschichte: Busag, Rumänien. Unser Sorgenkind Renato hatte wahrlich keinen leichten Start ins Leben.

About Renato

What life with Renato looks like

Renato is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Renato, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Renato?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Renato on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Renato if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Renato already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Renato isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Renato and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
