Rex

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 12 years

A dog was born on 2013.09.01. Rex is the other half of the orphans who were kicked. His beloved owner left him and the other dog alone at the age of 84. Rex and his companion had to hide in a cold, drafty, wire-fenced shed at -15 degrees before they were taken in by a temporary foster family, then by our animal shelter. Rex didn't really understand what was happening around him, he handled the changes a bit shyly and cautiously. He timidly, but curiously opened up to the affection. Now he has learned that no one will hurt him! He loves the company of people and other dogs, and he really enjoys walking! Vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered, he is waiting for his new owner. Attention, the dog can be found at the Szergegyi branch of the NOÉ Animal Shelter. You can inquire about him at our address. Additional pictures: HERE!

2013.09.01-jén született kan kutya. Rex a rábasömjéni árvák másik fele. Imádott gazdija 84 évesen hagyta magára a két kutyát. Figyelem a kutya a NOÉ Állatotthon szergényi telephelyén található. About Rex

What life with Rex looks like

Rex is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Noé Állatotthon in Budapest.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rex, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rex?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Noé Állatotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rex on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rex if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Noé Állatotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rex already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rex isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Noé Állatotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rex and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
