Rhino

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Rhino was found very skinny and all alone on the streets, without a microchip and first brought to a perrera in Mijas, where he received first aid and gained the first few kilos. Then Rhino joined Triple A family and is now waiting to find his forever family in the shelter. Rhino is a big wiggly boy, who loves to climb into your lap, and makes you sweat like a cowboy when you're trying to get him into his harness. Rhino is a physically big and strong boy, yes, and in the beginning he can pull a bit on the leash, when he finally gets out for his walk, but actually he walks really comfortable and pleasantly on the leash as soon as he gets his first energy out. Rhino loves all humans, and will cuddle everyone. He doesn't really comprehend his size and weight, especially now that he has recovered from being starved, so at the moment would be best if he could join a home without small children, not to crush them with his full-body cuddles. He of course loves snacks, and even though he does not yet know many tricks to impress you, he is ready to learn - hopefully you have patience, because this big boy has a thick head! Rhino likes friendly and social female dogs, even though he still needs experience and guidance on dog socialisations, as with his size and teenage energy, he can be too much for some dogs. Slowly we will introduce him to different dogs, so he learns bodylanguage, different energies and also boundaries of other dogs. He gets a bit nervous in the presence of other dominant big males. At the moment he would like to find a home as an only dog, who is provided regular controlled contact with other friendly, social dogs, or a home where already a playful and confident female is waiting for him. His shoulder height is 54cm. To adopt Rhino in Spain, a PPP license is required, which the shelter can help with. Rhino is also available for international adoptions.

About Rhino

What life with Rhino looks like

Rhino is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Triple A Marbella in Marbella.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rhino, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rhino?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Triple A Marbella handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rhino on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rhino if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Triple A Marbella will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rhino already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rhino isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Triple A Marbella early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rhino and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
