Adopt RIGAS

Mixed Breed · Male

Rigas was recently found wandering in Nea Filadelfeia and unfortunately no one seems to be looking for him so far. So, this impressive-looking boy is looking for a new, forever family! He is a lively, very human-oriented dog, friendly with all the people he meets. He knows how to walk on a leash, although he has some bad habits such as biting the leash at the beginning of the walk out of excitement. We are sure, however, that the right guardian, who will work on desensitizing him from this stimulus, will be able to correct it with just a little bit of effort. He could probably live together with a calm dog, however at the moment he seems to prefer the company of people. When meeting him, if you are not dazzled by his imposing stare or his floppy ears, then we will definitely win you over with his youthful and enthusiastic spirit! He is just waiting for you to give him the chance to prove all that to you! He will be given neutered, vaccinated, with adoption contract, vaccination book and micro chipped. About RIGAS

What life with RIGAS looks like

RIGAS is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Friends of Animals Nea Philadelphia in Greece.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇷Adopting from Greece

Greek shelters often partner with Northern European rescue groups for placements. Animals are sterilized, vaccinated, and chipped before adoption. Fees vary widely depending on whether the shelter is municipal or NGO-run.

Frequently asked

Adopting RIGAS, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about RIGAS?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Friends of Animals Nea Philadelphia handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw RIGAS on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt RIGAS if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Friends of Animals Nea Philadelphia will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is RIGAS already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if RIGAS isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Friends of Animals Nea Philadelphia early rather than rehoming privately; they know RIGAS and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
