Adopt Rigolette

European Shorthair · Female · Senior · 11 years

Identified by microchip Type: European Color: White and gray tabby - Coat: Short, spayed Tested FIV (AIDS) - FELV (Leukemia) negative Vaccinated for Typhus and Cat Flu Health: Treated for a carcinoma on the ear (removal of the left ear) and skin issues, which cause itching on the head and neck currently being treated otherwise all is well At the shelter My name is Rigolette, and I can say that luck has never really been on my side. I was born in 2015, and I first came to the shelter before being adopted in 2018. I believed in this new life. But in early 2024, my human brought me back... She said I had cleanliness problems. Here, no one noticed that. Not once. So sometimes it's not the cat that's the problem. Read more... When I arrived, we found something else: one of my ears was sick, a carcinoma. It had to be removed. Not fun, but necessary. The following tests showed everything is fine now, no cancer in sight. A good news in all this. I still suffer from stress, and it causes strong itching. So I am on treatment to help me feel better. I'm doing my best, really. I'm a bit battered little cat, with a twisted front paw, but with a strong character. I'm not the type to throw myself into everyone's arms. I like to steal a couple of pats when I decide. But beware: if you persist, my claws know very well how to remind me of my limits. I'm not mean, just straightforward. I need a very calm environment, without children running around or too lively animals. I need quiet, respect, space to live at my own pace. A secure balcony, a place where I can observe the world without being disturbed, would be a dream. I'm not the most simple or the most affectionate little cat, but I'm authentic. I have my weaknesses, my strengths, my small requirements. And somewhere, I hope there is a family who will know how to love me as I am: a sensitive, independent, a bit complaining, but deeply lovable little one. Ici, personne n’a constaté ça. Il a fallu me l’enlever. About Rigolette

What life with Rigolette looks like

Rigolette is a senior european shorthair cat waiting at Le Regroupement Des Chats Perdus in France.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues — keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rigolette, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rigolette?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Le Regroupement Des Chats Perdus handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rigolette on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rigolette if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Le Regroupement Des Chats Perdus will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rigolette already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rigolette isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Le Regroupement Des Chats Perdus early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rigolette and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
