Adopt Riko

Mixed Breed · Male

Riko is a dog with a quick mind and great sensitivity. He becomes very attached to familiar adults and loves human contact. Petting, working together, and activities bring him great joy - especially when he is rewarded with dried liver. He does well in activities with his caregiver: running, learning commands, and tasks that require thinking are things that really make him happy. With regular stimulation, he is calm and balanced. He likes water and swimming. In the house, he can be left alone - he doesn't destroy anything and rests calmly. On walks, he senses his caregiver's pace well. In relationships with other dogs, he can be reactive on a leash, especially when they are close or barking, but from a distance he can remain calm. He gets along well with dogs with whom he had an appropriate introductory walk.

Riko to pies o bystrym umyśle i dużej wrażliwości.

About Riko

What life with Riko looks like

Riko is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Sterczące Uszy in Poland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Riko, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Riko?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Sterczące Uszy handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Riko on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Riko if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Sterczące Uszy will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Riko already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Riko isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Sterczące Uszy early rather than rehoming privately; they know Riko and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
