RIM

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

Rim arrived at the shelter at the same time as Paco. She was removed from neglect with 100 other unfortunate companions. Rim is on hold and very reactive behind her cage when she doesn't know several visitors will be necessary. Rim is a sensitive, gentle, and very affectionate dog. She's a great walking companion, taking her time and fully enjoying it. Rim says she is a princess, and her future family will have some requirements to start a house with a very well-fenced garden, we will avoid the city, so a house in the countryside without cats and for dogs, socialization work will be necessary. She tolerates her other animals of the same species, males, but a daily cohabitation without work will be difficult. She is very afraid of thunderstorms, even a big stress just by the weather being stormy. She loves water. We will avoid young children but from 7 or 8 years old. Not suitable for homes with cats.

About RIM

What life with RIM looks like

RIM is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Vallerargues) in Ales.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Storm phobia causes severe stress, requires extensive socialization work with dogs, needs secure fencing

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting RIM, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about RIM?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Vallerargues) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw RIM on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt RIM if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Vallerargues) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is RIM already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if RIM isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Vallerargues) early rather than rehoming privately; they know RIM and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
