Ringo

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Bodeguero mixed breed Ringo – is shared suffering half suffering? Ringo was given up together with Gorda. Probably he had become too old for his owner and was therefore heartlessly left at the animal shelter. Out of sight, out of mind. Now he sits there and doesn't understand any of it. Ringo adjusts himself as best he can to the new situation, of course hoping like all the others that his fate will turn for the better. Ringo is a friendly little fellow who is very devoted to humans and in his enclosure he shows himself to be loving and compatible with the other dogs. Now we wish for him a new home with people who will give him the chance to start anew in his second half of life. Maybe he will need a little time to get used to new structures for him, maybe he will start anew right away. Patience, understanding, and love are the ingredients for a successful outcome. In Ringo's ancestry, there could also be a Pinscher, as he looks somewhat like one – but he hasn't told us anything about that. If you want to give the Sweetie a leap into a happy future, please contact his foster parent. Whether as a new home or also as a foster home, Ringo is looking forward to every offer.

DE·Show original

About Ringo

What life with Ringo looks like

Ringo is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ringo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ringo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ringo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ringo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ringo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ringo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ringo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
