Ringo

Mixed Breed · Male

Description Our animal welfare workers report: Ringo was picked up by the police in the Spanish small town of Xativa. He had a bad haircut, clearly done by human hands, but also a brand new parasite collar, though unfortunately no chip. Due to the new collar and the peculiar haircut, the animal welfare workers suspected that he had an owner. A mysterious woman actually got in touch and claimed that it was her dog, which she had kept in her pen in Bixquert for three or four months. The animal welfare workers informed her that she should have had Ringo vaccinated and chipped, upon which she said she no longer wanted him, as it was too much for her. It was Ringo’s luck that he came to the animal shelters, as in the hands of an irresponsible owner in a pen, he surely would not have fared better. The drahthaar male dog is extremely friendly towards people, showing no discernible fears. With female dogs, Ringo is consistently compatible at the shelter, while with male dogs, his affinity (currently, he is alone in the animal shelter pen) decides. The athletic, active four-legged friend walks well on a leash when given a little guidance. He travels well in the car and has behaved excellently at the vet. The local animal shelter caretakers report that Ringo is well-coated, and if one takes the time, he is a nice dog. He is like a small spring; in the pen, he jumps joyfully and bounces around when he is happy, which is rather funny and athletic. We could imagine Ringo in various household situations, as he shows adaptability. Where can this elegant, slender male dog finally experience what it means to live in security in his own home, where he is welcomed as a full-fledged family member? The Mediterranean test still lies ahead. Please note:

About Ringo

What life with Ringo looks like

Ringo is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierischgeholfen e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ringo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ringo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierischgeholfen e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ringo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ringo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierischgeholfen e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ringo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ringo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierischgeholfen e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ringo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
