adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Ringo was rehomed from another organization! His story: Ringo was rescued with his brother Sir Galahad from another public shelter and brought here. When they were picked up there, they were very weak and undernourished. Now, both have physically recovered, but the emotional wounds remain. They must have gone through something really terrible, so traumatized as they are to this day. Ringo is estimated to be around 8 years old and stands at a shoulder height of approximately 45-50 cm, giving him a medium size. Ringo is very timid and scared, which has caused him to withdraw significantly. Ringo is not aggressive or mean; he is deeply traumatized and has lost trust in people. We do not know what terrible experiences he had to endure. We only know that Ringo desperately needs help. Life in the shelter just terrifies him too much. We are looking for dog-experienced people who can read the body language of the dog. People who are willing to work with Ringo without putting him under pressure. It will certainly take some time for Ringo to thaw out and learn to trust people again. For this, we are looking for patient people who will give Ringo all the time he needs and not push him. We are looking for a quiet rural home for Ringo without much hustle and bustle. A garden would be of immense advantage, as walks with Ringo at the beginning will not be possible. Ringo needs the absolute possibility to retreat undisturbed when it becomes too much for him. Children are not suitable for his new home, as they could still scare him too much.

About Ringo

What life with Ringo looks like

Ringo is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Ringo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Ringo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Ringo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Ringo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Ringo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Ringo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Ringo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
