RITA

European Shorthair · Female · Young · 1 year

By: CICAMPosted on June 16, 2026June 16, 2026 Name: RITA Breed: Common European Sex: Female Age: 25/09/2025 Date of entry to the center: 22/05/2026 RITA arrived at the center in late May. She is about a year old and we believe she might have been abandoned in a feral cat colony because she is a very good, affectionate, and sociable cat, traits that don't fit with a feral cat. It's possible that her previous family didn't understand her because RITA has a lot of energy and loves to be attentive to people. She is an intense cat, yes, but also full of love and eager to share her life with someone. Now she is waiting for a second chance. She needs a patient family that allows her to adapt at her own pace and values all the love she has to offer. Are you ready to give her the home she deserves? RITA is waiting for someone to fall in love with her and open the doors of her heart and home. If you want to meet RITA or are interested in adopting her, get in touch with us. Categories:

About RITA

What life with RITA looks like

RITA is a young adult european shorthair cat waiting at CICAM in Spain.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇪🇸Adopting from Spain

Spanish protectoras generally include sterilization, all vaccinations, microchip ID, and EU pet passport in the adoption fee (typically €250–€400 for a dog, €100–€180 for a cat). Many maintain partnerships with rescue transport providers across the EU.

Frequently asked

Adopting RITA, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about RITA?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. CICAM handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw RITA on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt RITA if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — CICAM will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is RITA already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if RITA isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with CICAM early rather than rehoming privately; they know RITA and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (ES). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
