Adopt Roberto alias Pumba

Mixed Breed · Male

Hey, I'm Roberto – formerly known as Pumba 🐾 Six months ago, I left the animal shelter and moved into my new home. And believe me: so much has happened in these six months that sometimes I even marvel at it! At first, I had to learn how to behave like a gentleman. I was, well, let's be honest, quite a chaos. "Sit," "Stay," "Down"… phew! I really thought the people had lost their minds. But now I understand what patience and love mean. Today, learning is really fun for me, and the progress doesn't take long. I'll just say this much: I'm a gentleman now more than ever. Since my move to Lower Bavaria, I've already spent six weeks in France, swimming in the Mediterranean and Atlantic, flirting with French female dogs (oh là là!), and meeting a tomcat who showed me that you can't take on everyone… At home, I happily run over fields, meadows, and through forests, attend weekly dog training classes, and test new toys, most of which don't survive five minutes. You'll have to come up with something better! My life is so exciting, something I could never have dreamed of. Full of adventures and cuddle hours, full of love and security. I hope that many of my former friends from the animal shelter will also soon find such a wonderful home. Thank you to everyone at the animal shelter who gave me this chance. Without you, I wouldn't be the happy dog I am today. ❤️ Yours, Roberto (formerly Pumba)

❤️ Euer Roberto (ehemals Pumba)

About Roberto alias Pumba

What life with Roberto alias Pumba looks like

Roberto alias Pumba is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Starnberg in Starnberg.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Roberto alias Pumba, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Roberto alias Pumba?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Starnberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Roberto alias Pumba on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Roberto alias Pumba if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Starnberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Roberto alias Pumba already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Roberto alias Pumba isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Starnberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Roberto alias Pumba and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
