Adopt Robin

Greyhound · Male · Adult · 4 years

Meet our lovely Greyhound, Robin. Robin arrived at Battersea after retiring from his racing career. He is a friendly, bouncy and excitable lad who loves human company and has no issues making friends. He has struggled a little when out and about on his walks, being a little stressed in a busy environment, although he does do better in the company of a Greyhound friend. He is looking for new owners who can set him up for success, and will give him the time he needs to settle into what is likely his first home environment. As an ex-racer with a high chase drive, he will need to be kept on lead and muzzled when out in public spaces. Robin likes other dogs and has shown some friendly behaviours, although he can be reactive occasionally when he is unsure what to do. This is likely due to being mostly around other Greyhounds and not having met many other breeds of dog during his racing days. He would prefer to be the only dog in the home at this time, but would love some doggy mates to go on regular walks with. He could potentially live with another greyhound friend, if they can give him the space he needs without pestering him. Robin is looking for a home away from the inner city, with access to his own private garden to help build his confidence and give him a safe place to potter about off lead. He could potentially live with older children who can play a role in his daily training. Robin is a lively, affectionate and loveable boy who is ready for a home to call his own. He will make the best goofy cuddle buddy in any household lucky enough to have him! About Robin

What life with Robin looks like

Robin is a large adult greyhound dog waiting at Battersea Dogs & Cats Home in London.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Robin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Robin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Robin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Robin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Battersea Dogs & Cats Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Robin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Robin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Battersea Dogs & Cats Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Robin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
