Rocco

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Rocco and his sister Mira were taken into our care from Jakabszállás. The two young dogs were wandering together until they stumbled into a house yard. The people living there alerted us, so they were brought to safety. Unfortunately, we do not know how they ended up on the streets, and even more sadly, no one has been looking for them. Rocco and Mira are both open, kind, and cuddly dogs. Rocco, as the boys usually are, is more curious and active than his sister. He loves to explore, is inquisitive, and enjoys participating in all joint activities. They are no longer tiny puppies, but young dogs, for whom most of life still lies ahead. Therefore, in addition to love, consistent upbringing, rules, and patient teaching are very important for them. We are looking for a guardian for Rocco who not only sees a cute dog in him but also takes on the responsibility of helping him learn how to be a balanced, well-bred, and happy family dog. We hope to find the ideal guardian for them soon, who will give them everything they have been lacking so far: safety, love, patience, and a family of their own, while also keeping in mind that Rocco is a young, active dog who needs exercise, attention, and consistent guidance. Rocco is ready to finally return home to someone.

HU·Show original

Rocco a testvérével, Mirával együtt került a gondozásunkba Jakabszállásról.

About Rocco

What life with Rocco looks like

Rocco is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Állatvédelmi Centrum in Hungary.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rocco, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rocco?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Állatvédelmi Centrum handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rocco on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rocco if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Állatvédelmi Centrum will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rocco already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rocco isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Állatvédelmi Centrum early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rocco and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
