Adopt Rocky 1

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

Rocky was originally brought back from the Spain vacation as a puppy and lived with the people who brought him until he was three years old. At three years old, he was given to us due to overburdening. Rocky is a dog who is primarily insecure and knows very little. He behaves fearfully and approaches new things cautiously but with interest. The pointer-mix needs strict and clear guidance to be a happy dog. In many situations, Rocky is a friendly and open dog, provided he is not pressured. Building trust plays an important role for Rocky. He must be able to rely on his people and receive clear rules and boundaries when being rehomed. When trust is present, Rocky can also be stroked and he likes to cuddle or even give kisses. However, it should be noted that he can be firm if he deems it necessary. In the household environment, it shows that he gradually unpacks his luggage and then also tests clear boundaries. He has been accustomed to wearing a muzzle with us and wears it regularly to control uncertain situations. He still needs to catch up on leash work; it happens that he barks at other dogs when they come too close. However, he can be disturbed by the leash handler and is then also recallable. Rocky passes by strangers with a relaxed attitude. Rocky is leash-trained and a willing dog who is happy to work and is also a clever fellow. For Rocky, we are looking for people who have dog experience and who do not have children in their household. He is looking for active individuals who can give him physical stimulation and also mentally challenge him. Rocky cannot be rehomed with beginners. For the getting-to-know-you period, several weeks should be planned. Interested parties please send an email to:. This animal is not suitable for homes with children.

About Rocky 1

What life with Rocky 1 looks like

Rocky 1 is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Bertha-Bruch-Tierheim Saarbrücken in Saarbrücken.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rocky 1, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rocky 1?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Bertha-Bruch-Tierheim Saarbrücken handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rocky 1 on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rocky 1 if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Bertha-Bruch-Tierheim Saarbrücken will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rocky 1 already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rocky 1 isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Bertha-Bruch-Tierheim Saarbrücken early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rocky 1 and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
