Adopt Rocky

Akita · Unknown · Young · 1 year

Meet Rocky – A Sweet Young Akita Ready for a Fresh Start Rocky’s journey hasn’t been the easiest. After finding himself alone and wandering around an industrial estate for several weeks, he was eventually brought to safety thanks to the persistence and kindness of local residents and professionals. Now in the care of ARW, Rocky is settling in, decompressing, and beginning to show the gentle, loving nature hidden beneath his initial worry. 18 month old Rocky is a handsome and sensitive young lad who is slowly building his confidence and showing more of his lovely personality each day. He loves his treats and takes them very gently, but he can be suspicious of being touched at first and isn’t yet comfortable with a collar or harness going over his head. He’ll need a calm, patient adopter who can help him understand that the world isn’t so scary and that people can be trusted. He would benefit from ongoing training, his “sit” is still a work in progress, but he’s eager to learn and with his love of tasty treats he will be easy to work with. He’s an inquisitive boy who loves exploring on his walks. He can be strong on the lead at first, but once the initial excitement passes, he settles nicely and takes in all the sights and smells around him. With consistent training and routine, he’ll continue to improve his manners Rocky shows interest in other dogs and isn’t reactive, though close contact has been limited due to his nervousness. He may enjoy calm canine walking companions to help boost his confidence. With slow, careful introductions, he could live with a friendly, spayed female dog of similar size. Like many Akitas (not all), Rocky has a strong prey drive, so no cats, small dogs, or small furries. Rocky’s Ideal Home Breed experienced owner Calm, patient home with gentle handling Dog-savvy children aged 12+ (due to his nervousness) Could live with a calm, spayed female dog of similar size. Someone committed to helping him grow in confidence and trust. Ready to Give Rocky the Future He Deserves? Rocky is a lovely boy who is slowly discovering that people can be kind, and the world doesn’t have to be overwhelming. With patience, structure, and love, he will blossom into a wonderful companion. If you can offer Rocky the supportive forever home he needs, we’d love to hear from you. Let’s help this gorgeous lad begin his new chapter. 🐾
