Rocky

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 2 years

Rocky is looking for his forever home. This little fighter is about 2 years old and still lives in Crete. Because of his handicap, it is too dangerous for him there. He should be kept indoors. That is why his former owners asked us for help: Rocky is a very special little tomcat, whom we raised together with his brother Sakanaki when they were only a few days old kittens. While his brother has already found his happiness, Rocky is still waiting for the right people. Rocky had to go through a lot at an early age: as a little worry child, he was given antibiotics and repeatedly had problems with anesthesia. Despite everything, he is a true fighter and has always fought his way back to life. Some time ago, he unfortunately suffered a fracture in his elbow joint, which initially went unnoticed. When his condition worsened and he developed severe pain, an X-ray brought the sad certainty: the fracture was too old, and saving the little leg was no longer possible. Rocky ultimately had to have it amputated. But he bravely survived this as well. Currently, Rocky is learning step by step to get used to his new life as a little three-legged cat, and he makes progress every day. Rocky is a cheerful, loving tomcat who, despite everything, trusts people and seeks closeness. He needs a calm, safe home, ideally indoors without outdoor access, as many dangers await him outside. We wish for Rocky people with heart who give him time to settle in and show him how beautiful a sheltered cat's life can be. Who will give this special fighter the chance at a happy home? Rocky manages his life on three paws very well. Other friendly cats are no problem. Would you like to give Rocky a home? Then contact us at: we will take care of ensuring that he packs his bags as soon as possible and flies to Germany.

About Rocky

What life with Rocky looks like

Rocky is a large young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierschutzverein Leise-Pfoten e.V. in Germany.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rocky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rocky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Leise-Pfoten e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rocky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rocky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Leise-Pfoten e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Rocky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rocky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Leise-Pfoten e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rocky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
