Adopt Rocky

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Senior · 13 years

Rocky – a little old gentleman with a big heart seeks a loving home Rocky was born on 24 November 2012 and is almost exactly 13 years old. This little Havanese is a true sweetheart who has been through a lot and now wants a quiet home where he can spend his twilight years in safety and security. As a puppy, Rocky came from a breeder to his owners and grew up there as a beloved family member. For years he experienced love, warmth, and care, until everything changed for private reasons. He had to leave his family and came into our care – a huge change, which wasn’t easy for a dog who knows so much love. Despite his age, Rocky is astonishingly fit and full of zest for life. He takes great pleasure in walks and is friendly and open with people. He still has curiosity, a love of life, and the wish to be loved and valued. For Rocky we are seeking a calm, loving home where he will receive the care and affection he so richly deserves. People who will give him stability, respond to his needs, and consciously savour each day with him. People who know that every moment with an older dog is precious. If you would like to give Rocky a home full of warmth, love, and security, please get in touch with us. He is waiting for people who understand his heart, give him security, and want to make his remaining years happy together. Rocky more than deserves to spend his twilight years in peace, joy, and care. If you are interested, please feel free to contact us at !

About Rocky

What life with Rocky looks like

Rocky is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tiere in Not Breisgau e.V. in Freiburg.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rocky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rocky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tiere in Not Breisgau e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rocky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rocky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tiere in Not Breisgau e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rocky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rocky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tiere in Not Breisgau e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rocky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
