adoption requirements adoption process Adopt now this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Rocky can stay forever in its foster home! 45309 Essen. Rocky can travel to its foster home in mid-December! His story: Zalau, Romania. Cheerful young male wants to extend his paw to you forever. If you're looking for a clever, athletic, and cheerful animal companion, you're at the right address with Rocky. The young male dog, about 52 cm tall and weighing 21 kg, has good cheer written all over his face. On every photo, the athletic male dog seems to be asking: "What are we going to do today? Do you have a treat for me? Are we going to start right away?" Rocky is a bundle of energy and joy. However, sometimes the horse gets a bit wild with him and he plays with his fellow animals a bit too rough, pulling on the leash. But since he loves being stroked, praised, and getting treats for a job well done, it shouldn't be too difficult to work with him and teach him everything a dog should know to be a great companion. Although he is still a young animal, he landed in the public shelter, where dogs are unfortunately still killed if not claimed within a certain time frame. Fortunately, he was saved from there and is now in safety in the shelter. There, he shows himself to be very loving and charismatic. The beautiful brown-black-white Rocky with his wonderfully light brown eyes and open, intelligent, and inquisitive gaze is now looking for people who want to teach him the dog ABCs and spend a lot of time with him, because playing, running, and every kind of physical and especially mental stimulation is what makes him happy. It would be great if Rocky's new owners are also active and often do something with the new family member. However, they should also bring enough patience, empathy, and especially steadfastness, because Rocky has to learn most things, like almost all dogs from the animal shelter. Also, children should be trained in handling dogs and recognize and accept their limits. Attending a positively working dog training class would be highly recommended and a great help with all questions regarding dog training, so that Rocky and his people can go through their shared life stress-free and with good cheer. Rocky is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated, and can carry his EU pet passport. If Rocky has already wrapped its paw around you, won your heart, and you want to shape your new exciting life together with him, then please sign up! Rocky would also be very happy to have a foster home! Many thanks, Thorsten! You gave Rocky its name!

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Rocky darf für immer in seiner Pflegestelle bleiben! 45309 Essen. Vielen Dank Thorsten! Du hast Rocky seinen Namen geschenkt!

About Rocky

What life with Rocky looks like

Rocky is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rocky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rocky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rocky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rocky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rocky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rocky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rocky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
