Rokki

Labrador Retriever · Male · Adult · 7 years

Rokki – Home isn’t a place. Sometimes, it has four paws. 🐾🐾 .fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-443 > .fusion-body .fusion-flex-container .fusion-imageframe.imageframe-50 img{aspect-ratio:9 / 16;object-position:22% 39%;} .fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-444 > Location: Animal shelter in Slavonski Brod, Croatia Breed: Labrador mix Date of birth: January 1, 2019 Shoulder height: approx. 50 cm / approx. 30 kg Compatibility with cats can be tested Single or second dog Ideal environment: all living situations suitable for: ambitious first-time dog owners .fusion-body .fusion-button Go directly to the self-disclosure .fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-445 > .fusion-body .fusion-flex-container .fusion-gallery-50 .fusion-body .fusion-builder-column-446 > .fusion-body .fusion-flex-container Some dogs cross your path only for a brief moment. And some feel, from the very first glance, as if they simply belong. That’s exactly the feeling Rokki conveys. With his honey-colored coat, gentle brown eyes, and calm gaze, this roughly 7.5-year-old Labrador mix radiates a serenity that’s impossible to describe—you just have to experience it. He’s one of those dogs whose company simply feels good. Rokki loves the simple things in life. Long cuddle sessions are just as much a part of his routine as a nice walk, a ball to throw, or a refreshing bath on warm days. Often, he doesn’t need much more than that to be happy—what matters most is that his people are by his side. Over a year ago, his life changed dramatically. His owners moved away and left him behind. Since then, Rokki has been living at the animal shelter, waiting for a door to open for him once again. Despite everything, he’s kept his big heart and continues to meet people with trust and kindness. Rokki gets along well with female dogs and shows himself to be pleasantly social. We don’t yet know how he’ll react to cats—of course, we can test that if you’re interested. Even in everyday life, Rokki brings joy. He already walks nicely on a leash, travels comfortably in the car, and reliably accompanies his people throughout the day. As a Labrador mix, he enjoys shared activities and species-appropriate physical and mental stimulation. It’s not about being faster, higher, or further—it’s about spending time with the people he loves. Currently, Rokki is undergoing treatment for heartworm disease. The therapy has been going on for several months now and will naturally continue. Yet, Rokki himself lets this condition not take away his joy of life and fully savors every beautiful moment. Rokki isn’t looking for a perfect home. He’s looking for people who’ll accept him just as he is—people who appreciate his calm nature, walk through daily life together with him, throw balls with him, dry him off after baths, and show him that sometimes, coming home doesn’t require much at all. And a home where he can stay forever. ❤️🐾 .fusion-body .fusion-button Interested in adopting? About Rokki

What life with Rokki looks like

Rokki is a small adult labrador retriever dog waiting at Nordic Strays e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rokki, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rokki?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Nordic Strays e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rokki on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rokki if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Nordic Strays e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rokki already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rokki isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Nordic Strays e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rokki and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
