Rokko

Male · Young · 3 years

Rokko (Weight approx. 1.5kg, neutered) was dropped off at our shelter together with his brother rabbit Rocky, as further care of the rabbits is no longer possible due to private and health-related reasons. Unfortunately, Rokko and Rocky had already strongly clashed with each other in their previous home, due to hormones (both unneutered) and lack of space, so we had to separate them upon arrival. As a result, the two look rather "battle-scarred" in their current photos. We are looking for a new home for Rokko after his neuter quarantine period ends on July 3, 2026, with a nice female rabbit. Rokko is affectionate and curious, but still a bit shy, and was the more dominant of the two. Currently, he lives in indoor housing. If you are interested, please contact us via email () and include a few photos of your hutch and your rabbit's vaccination record. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

DE·Show original

About Rokko

What life with Rokko looks like

Rokko is a young adult rabbit waiting at Tierheim Düsseldorf in Düsseldorf.

Rabbits are social animals — most shelters recommend adopting them in bonded pairs rather than alone. They need fresh hay daily, several hours of out-of-cage time, and rabbit-safe spaces to explore. They live eight to twelve years, longer than many people expect.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Rokko, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Rokko?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Düsseldorf handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Rokko on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Rokko if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Düsseldorf will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Rokko already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most rabbits on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Rokko isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Düsseldorf early rather than rehoming privately; they know Rokko and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
