Roland

Mixed Breed Cat Β· Male Β· Senior Β· 16 years

πŸ’› Meet Roland – a senior gentleman who deserves to spend his golden years being truly cherished. πŸ’› At 16 years young, handsome Roland has already been let down by the people who should have cared for him. He came into the care of RSPCA Bluebell Ridge after his owners moved away and left him behind. πŸ’” When Roland first arrived, he was in a bit of a sorry state. His beautiful fur was severely matted, and he needed to be shaved from his chest down to make him comfortable again. He also needed some dental treatment to remove a few loose teeth. But despite everything he had been through, Roland’s sweet nature shone through from the very beginning. πŸ₯Ήβ€οΈ He has well and truly stolen the hearts of our staff and volunteers! This handsome gent absolutely ADORES fuss and being pampered. Our wonderful volunteers have been regularly grooming him to keep his coat in tip-top condition, and Roland has been loving every moment of the extra attention. He’s also discovered the joys of having a cosy bed to curl up in for a well-earned nap – just as every senior gentleman should! πŸ›οΈπŸΎ Now, Roland is looking for someone special to offer him the retirement home he deserves. A nice garden to potter around and explore at his own pace would be lovely, but what he’d really love is a comfy sofa, a warm lap and someone who has plenty of time for cuddles, gentle fuss and making him feel loved. πŸ’› No senior cat should ever find themselves left behind, especially after a lifetime in a home. We can’t change Roland’s past, but we can do everything in our power to make sure his future is filled with kindness, comfort and love. Can you offer this handsome 16-year-old lad a peaceful home where he can enjoy his twilight years as a treasured member of the family? 🏑 Please help us find Roland the loving retirement home he deserves. Let’s make sure his next chapter is his happiest one yet. πŸ’› πŸ“© Please contact RSPCA Bluebell Ridge if you could offer Roland his forever home, and share his appeal to help us find his special someone. About Roland

What life with Roland looks like

Roland is a senior mixed breed cat cat waiting at RSPCA Brighton & The Heart of Sussex in United Kingdom.

Senior cats are the gentlest house guests: predictable, mostly silent, and grateful for a sunny windowsill. Older cats often have minor dental or kidney issues β€” keep an eye on water intake and weight. Many sleep eighteen hours a day and want no part of any drama.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Roland, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Roland?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Brighton & The Heart of Sussex handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Roland on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Roland if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” RSPCA Brighton & The Heart of Sussex will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Roland already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Roland isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Brighton & The Heart of Sussex early rather than rehoming privately; they know Roland and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
