Adopt Roland

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 9 years

Together with Ylenia, searching for their big happiness 🐾 🐕 Roland came to us in Germany along with his best friend Ylenia from a problematic animal shelter in Romania. Both arrived here with their dog group—and even at our animal shelter, it’s immediately clear: these two belong together. They strongly rely on each other, provide security, and are simply a well-coordinated team. That’s why we hope they’ll find a shared forever home. Roland is a calm, balanced, and very affectionate guy—a low-maintenance, sweet dog who enjoys being close to his humans and simply wants to belong. He has undergone thorough veterinary examinations, received dental treatment, and is in excellent health. He walks nicely on the leash, is attentive, and responds well. Both dogs can be left alone for several hours and are relaxed and easygoing in everyday life. A home with a yard or garden would of course be a little dream come true for Roland—a place to breathe freely, settle in, and just be a dog. Two loyal souls who’ve found so much stability together—now all they need is the right person to give them their big happiness together. 💚 Info from the former shelter PROFILE At the animal shelter since: 13.12.25 Age: approx. 2017 Breed: mixed breed Sex: male dog Origin: Romania Reason for surrender: Animal welfare transfer Compatibility with cats / small animals: Must be tested With children?: Unknown Suitable as a second dog?

About Roland

What life with Roland looks like

Roland is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutz Kinzig-Main e.V. (Tierheim Gelnhausen) in Germany.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Roland, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Roland?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutz Kinzig-Main e.V. (Tierheim Gelnhausen) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Roland on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Roland if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutz Kinzig-Main e.V. (Tierheim Gelnhausen) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Roland already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Roland isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutz Kinzig-Main e.V. (Tierheim Gelnhausen) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Roland and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
