ROMEO

Male · Adult · 7 years

Adoption in progress. Gender: male Age: 7 years and 1 month Weight: ~11 kg (awaiting further details) Breed: Terrier mix Origin: Spain Available for adoption in: Switzerland Current location: Private boarding facility, Andalusia, Spain—our expenses covered Arrival upon adoption: Friday, September 11, 2026 (evening—nearby France, close to Geneva) Description: Romeo and his gentle gaze This little fellow has experienced the incomprehensible: he was abandoned by his owner at the Cordoba pound. A traumatic ordeal from which he is slowly recovering, now surrounded by kindness and finally safe. Despite what he’s been through, he already shows himself to be gentle, calm, and respectful. We sense great sensitivity in him, as well as a beautiful desire to regain trust. He’s gradually discovering his new life, and we’ll learn even more about his personality in the coming days. What we already know is that he deserves a family that’s present, patient, and full of tenderness—ready to offer him the stability he should never have lost. He’d be an excellent match for active seniors who are available and wish to share their daily lives with a discreet, endearing, and grateful companion. He doesn’t ask for much: a cozy bed, a few walks, lots of affection... and above all, someone who can show him that humans can keep their promises. Because after abandonment, the greatest gift of all remains a second chance. History: Private abandonment, Cordoba pound, Andalusia, 2026; released and sponsored by Cœurs de Chiens on June 29, 2026. With humans: Romeo’s file will be completed once he arrives. With other dogs: Romeo’s file will be completed once he arrives. With cats: We conduct tests upon request, but be aware that difficulties often arise on the cat’s side. The test cat won’t be your own; we’ll ask you questions about your cat’s profile to determine whether cohabitation is feasible. Adopter profile: We’re open to senior profiles for Romeo—physically fit and in good health, with a supportive family or friend network if needed. Maximum age: 75 years old. Country living, mountains, apartment, house—but no permanent camping except for vacations. If living in an urban area, we’ll pay close attention to the immediate surroundings: green spaces, parks, public transport, and type of housing. Any outdoor space must be securely fenced. About ROMEO

What life with ROMEO looks like

ROMEO is a adult dog waiting at Association Coeurs de Chiens in Lausanne (VD).

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting ROMEO, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about ROMEO?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Association Coeurs de Chiens handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw ROMEO on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt ROMEO if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Association Coeurs de Chiens will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is ROMEO already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if ROMEO isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Association Coeurs de Chiens early rather than rehoming privately; they know ROMEO and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
